The Whitefield (Kadugodi) to Krishnarajapura Metro Line has inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This new metro line will enhance the "Ease of Living" for the people of Bengaluru, by improving transportation and connectivity in the region.

The 13.71 km extension project of Reach-1 under Bangalore Metro Phase 2, which runs up to Krishnarajapura Metro Line.

The project was completed at an estimated cost of around Rs 4250 crores.

In 2014, only five cities had Metro rail and currently, it is present in 18 cities and the number of Metro users has also increased manifold.

The New Development Bank (NDB), which is also known as the BRICS bank and is a multilateral financial institution created by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, has announced that former Brazilian President Dilma Vana Rousseff has been elected as its new President.

She replaces Marcus Troyjo in the position.

New Development Bank -

It is headquartered at Shanghai, China.

In 2018, the NDB received observer status in the United Nations General Assembly, establishing a firm basis for active and fruitful cooperation with the UN.

YES Bank has collaborated with National E-Governance Services Limited (NeSL) to issue its first electronic Bank Guarantee (e-BG).

The integration of their digital document execution (DDE) platform has made it possible to completely digitize the previous paper-based process of issuing and maintaining Bank Guarantees.

This includes the digital stamping and signing, which has significantly reduced the time it takes to issue Bank Guarantees.

National E-Governance Services Limited -

NeSL is India’s first Information Utility and is registered with the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) under the aegis of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (IBC).

The primary role of NeSL is to serve as a repository of legal evidence holding the information pertaining to any debt/claim, as submitted by the financial or operational creditor and verified and authenticated by the parties to the debt.

The Election Commission (EC) in the Indian state of Karnataka has selected Manjamma Jogati, a transgender folk dancer, as a poll icon to encourage more members of the transgender community to register and vote.

Alongside Jogati, several other individuals, including cricketer Rahul Dravid and Jnanapeeth awardee Chandrashekar Kambar, have also been chosen as poll ambassadors.

The number of registered transgender voters in Karnataka has increased significantly from 4,552 in 2018 to 42,756 in 2023.

History -

Purple Day of Epilepsy was founded in 2008 by Cassidy Megan, a young girl from Nova Scotia, Canada, who wanted to raise awareness about epilepsy after her own struggles with the disorder.

She chose the color purple as a symbol of epilepsy because it is the color of lavender, which represents solitude and reflection, two emotions commonly associated with people living with epilepsy.

The first Purple Day of Epilepsy was celebrated on March 26, 2008, and since then, it has grown into a global movement.

About the Lord Basaveshwara ji -

Lord Basaveshwara was a philosopher and social reformer who lived in the 12th century.

He is considered the founder of the Lingayat religion, which is a major religious group in Karnataka.

Basaveshwara worked to promote social justice and equality, particularly for women and lower castes.

He emphasized the importance of individual devotion over caste-based rituals and was an early advocate for a democratic society.

About the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda ji -

Nadaprabhu Kempegowda was a feudal ruler who founded the city of Bangalore in the early 16th century.

He is considered the founder of modern Bangalore and is revered as a hero in Karnataka.

Kempegowda built numerous temples, tanks and other infrastructure in and around Bangalore, and is known for his administrative skills and governance.

His legacy is still celebrated in the city, particularly during the Kempegowda festival.

The World Bank has given the nod to provide a loan of $108 million (about Rs 889 crores) to assist Assam in its efforts to improve its disaster preparedness and enhance flood forecasting.

The multilateral bank has stated that around six million individuals will benefit from this project, which is part of a larger investment program worth Rs 500 million for the state.

The main aim of the Assam Integrated River Basin Management Project is to build eco-friendly infrastructure in the Beki and Buridehing river basins to lessen the impact of floods.
