The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will hold its Raising Day function in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh for the first time, a place that has been a hotbed of left-wing extremism.

The preparation for the celebration on March 19 will start in a few days.

They are preparing the infrastructure.

It will be held in Jagdalpur in a place called Karanpur — the headquarter of the 204 and 201 COBRA battalion.

The parade will happen there.

It is about 15 km from Jagdalpur airport.

Bastar along with other districts in Chhattisgarh such as Sukma, Dantewada and Bijawara have witnessed major attacks by Maoist groups in the past prompting the paramilitary force to launch counter-offensive operations.

The largest paramilitary force in the country, CRPF celebrated its 83rd CRPF Day in Jammu last year.

In the CRPF, there are four zones – Jammu and Kashmir zone, Central Zone, the Northeast zone and the Southern zone — each headed by a special director general.

Under each zone, there are different sectors, each headed by an inspector general under whom there are several battalions.

The Chhattisgarh sector comes under the administrative jurisdiction of the central zone.

The CRPF was entrusted with the task of anti-naxal operations there in 2003.

There are 6 COBRA battalions in the Chhattisgarh sector.

The Cobra battalion is a specialized force within the CRPF where personnel specializes in guerrilla warfare.

Sajjan Jindal, the chairman and managing director of JSW Group, has been awarded as the EY Entrepreneur of the Year (EOY) 2022.

Classical dance legend Kanak Rele passed away at the age of 85. The Mohiniyattam exponent, who was awarded the first Guru Gopinath National Puraskaram of the Government of Kerala.

Kanak Rele was the founding director of the Nalanda Dance Research Institute, Mumbai and the founding principal of the Nalanda Dance Kala Mahavidyalaya.

She played a major role in popularizing Mohiniyattam and making it globally prominent.

Born on June 11, 1937, in Gujarat to Shivdas and Madhuri, Kanak Rele spent her childhood in Santiniketan, West Bengal.

It was during this time that she turned to dance and became fascinated with Kathakali and Mohiniyattam.

Kanak Rele received various awards and prizes over her nearly eight-decade-long dancing career, including the Padma Shri (1989), Padma Bhushan (2013), Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1994), Kalidas Samman (2006), M. S. Subbulak.

Paris Saint-Germain’s and former Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has announced his retirement from international football, after a record 180 appearances for Spain.

Ramos was part of Spain’s World Cup and Euro winning teams had represented Real Madrid in La Liga and now plays for PSG in Ligue 1.

Ramos made his Spain debut in 2005 while still a teenager playing for Sevilla.

The NSE has got the greenlight from the capital markets regulator to launch its Social Stock Exchange.

The Churchgate railway station in Mumbai will soon be called as "Chintamanrao Deshmukh station", named after the first governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) CD Deshmukh.

The first national executive meeting of Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction, which was declared the original Shiv Sena by the Election Commission last week.

The meeting passed a resolution to rename the Churchgate railway station after the former RBI governor and Union Finance Minister CD Deshmukh.

About the CD Deshmukh -

Chintaman Dwarkanath Deshmukh, also known as C D Deshmukh, was the first Indian Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.

He joined RBI in 1939 and served as its Secretary to the Board, Deputy Governor and the Governor.

In August 1943, he was appointed as Governor of the RBI and served in that position till 1949.

Deshmukh is one of the eight Deputy Governors of the Bank who have gone on to become its Governor.

Top-seeded Spanish player, Carlos Alcaraz won his first title since his milestone US Open triumph by beating Cameron Norrie in straight sets at the Argentina Open tennis Tournament.

From Washington, US President Joe Biden is nominating former Mastercard Chief Executive Ajay Banga to lead the World Bank, after its current chief David Malpass announced plans to step down early.

The development lender has just started accepting candidate nominations in a process set to run until March 29, with the bank saying that women candidates would be “strongly” encouraged.

The president of the World Bank is typically American, while the leader of the International Monetary Fund is customarily European.

Ajay Banga, 63, is an Indian-American currently serving as vice chairman at equity firm General Atlantic.

He was previously chief executive at Mastercard.

He joined MasterCard as president and chief operating officer in August 2009 and was named its CEO in April 2010.

Banga worked for 13 years with Nestle, India and also spent two years at Pepsico, before joining Citigroup in 1996 where he served in a variety of positions of increasing responsibility, including as CEO of its Asia-Pacific region.

The Health Ministry in Peru country, South America has reported more than 11500 cases and 16 deaths due to the dengue outbreak.

An emergency has been released which will continue for about 90 days. A significant increase of 72 per cent has been seen since 2022.

The emergency was declared on February 23, 2023 (Thursday) in 13 departments operating in the country’s north, southeast and centre.
