The selection of Rohit Jawa, a senior executive of the UK-based parent company Unilever, as Hindustan Unilever Ltd’s (HUL) new managing director and CEO has been approved by the company’s board.

The FMCG behemoth informed the stock exchanges that the appointment, which is for a five-year term, will start on June 27, 2023.

Sanjiv Mehta, the current MD and CEO of Hindustan Unilever since 2013, will be replaced by Jawa.

Jawa will be appointed as a full-time director of the firm from April 1 to June 26 prior to taking over as the MD & CEO.

In 1988, Jawa began his career with HUL as a management trainee. He then held important managerial positions with Unilever in South East Asia and North Asia, among other places.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis informed the Maharashtra’s Legislative Council that the state will introduce the fourth women’s policy to give more opportunities to women by considering the issues of women from all groups.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Council Neelam Gorhe tabled a proposal to provide equal and dignified positions to women in all sectors.

Maharashtra’s Women and Child Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha announced that the State’s all inclusive Women policy will be announced in the current session.

He assured the assembly that the washroom for ladies will be built after every 50km on the new road.

The government will build toilets for women every 50 kilometres.

Mr Lodha also announced a Janata Durbar for women on the first Monday of every month in every district.

The inauguration of the platform was done during the PM’s Karnataka visit in the presence of Union Minister Pralhad Joshi.

It is to be noted that Indian Railways, South Western Railway Zones Hubbali is now registered in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest platform.

The world’s longest railway platform will cater to the transportation needs of the Hubballi-Dharwad region and will help in enhancing the operational capacity of the yard.

Furthermore, it will enable the operations of trains in both directions.

Gorakhpur platform in Uttar Pradesh is the second longest at 1,366.33 meters, and Kollam Junction in Kerala has the third longest platform at 1,180.5 meters.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also inaugurated the 118-km long Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway.

This new project is expected to aid the social and economic growth in the region.

Furthermore, the project entails widening NH 275 to six lanes along the Bengaluru-Nidaghatta-Mysuru stretch.

Oscars awards 2023: The 95th Academy Awards (Oscars 2023) have announced that RRR’s "Naatu Naatu" won Best Original Song.

The song had to beat out songs like "Applause" from Tell It Like a Woman, "Hold My Hand" from Top Gun: Maverick.

The Oscars 2023 was accepted by lyricist Chandrabose and composer Keeravani.

The song’s words were written by Chandrabose, with music by MM Keeravaani, and it was performed by Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj.

"Naatu Naatu" received the Golden Globe for best song.

RRR became the first Indian film to win a Golden Globe as a result of the victory.

It should be noted that “Jai Ho,” written by Gulzar and composed by AR Rahman, was the first Hindi song to win an Academy Award for Best Original Song and Best Original Score in the 2008 British film Slumdog Millionaire.

The International Golden City Gate Tourism Awards 2023 in the categories of "TV/Cinema Commercials International and Country International" were won by the Indian Ministry of Tourism and Government of India, respectively.

As part of a global effort on advertising in the post-Covid period to reopen opportunities in India, the award has been granted to promotional films/television ads made by the Ministry.

The movie beaten "Stranger At The Gate", "Haulout" and "How Do You Measure a Year".

Recently, Ministry of MSMEs launched the MSME Competitive (LEAN) Scheme to provide a roadmap to global competitiveness for the MSMEs of India.

The idea is to improve quality, productivity, performance and capability to change the mind-sets of manufacturers and transform them into world class manufacturers.

Lean Manufacturing or Lean Production, known simply as LEAN, is a production practice that considers the expenditure of resources for any goal, other than the creation of value for the end customer, to be wasteful and hence should be eliminated.

Key Points -

Kaizen is a Japanese word that essentially means "change for the better" or "good change."

The goal is to provide the customer with a defect free product or service when it is needed and, in quantity, it is needed.

The government will contribute 90% of implementation cost for handholding and consultancy fees.

There will be an additional contribution of 5% for the MSMEs which are part of SFURTI clusters, owned by Women/SC/ST and located in Northeast region.

There will be an additional contribution of 5% for MSMEs which are registering through Industry Associations/ Overall Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) organizations after completing all levels.

The first joint military exercise between the Indian Army and the French Army FRINGEX-23 (FRINX-2023) is to be held on 07 and 08 March 2023 at Pangod Military Station, Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.
