India’s aviation safety oversight ranking has jumped to the 55th position from 112th place earlier, with a significant improvement in the country’s score under the ICAO’s coordinated validation mission, according to regulator DGCA.

Under its Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP) Continuous Monitoring Approach, an ICAO Coordinated Validation Mission (ICVM) was undertaken in India from November 9 to 16, 2022.

The Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme allows the ICAO to continuously monitor the safety obligations of its 187 member states.

As the international civil aviation watchdog, the ICAO ensures that member states fulfil their obligation to improve the safety of civil aviation within their own jurisdictions.

Rohit Sharma led from the front as he scored his ninth Test century to become the first Indian captain to score hundreds in all formats.

This was Rohit’s first three-digit score in the longest format of the game against Australia in the first Test of the four-match series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Rohit is the fourth overall to have scored centuries in all three formats as captain after Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan, South Africa’s Faf du Plessis and Pakistan’s Babar Azam.

Rohit had scored his maiden ODI century as Indian captain against Sri Lanka on December 13, 2017, in Mohali, unbeaten on 208.

In T20Is, his first and only century as Indian skipper also came against Sri Lanka on December 22, 2017, in Indore, as he smashed 118.

Rohit had scored his maiden century in Test cricket way back more than nine years back in November 2013 against the West Indies at the Eden Garden, a majestic 177.

He had scored his first double-century against South Africa in October 2019, a superb 212 at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi.

Rohit Sharma has scored 30 hundreds overall in one-day internationals.

Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu laid the foundation stone of "Himachal Niketan" which will provide accommodation facilities to the students and residents of Himachal Pradesh visiting New Delhi.+

"Himachal Niketan", a five-story building will be constructed in Dwarka, Delhi for Rs 57.72 crore.

There are two VIP rooms and 36 general rooms exclusively for the students with all facilities besides 40 other general suites.

In Himachal Niketan, there will be three dormitories for the staff. It will also have a facility to park around 53 vehicles and 87 two-wheelers in the basement.

The Himachal Niketan will consist of 81 rooms in total.

The PWD has been directed to ensure quality construction and that the building would be completed by 2025 and the PWD Minister would also review the progress of construction at regular intervals so that timely construction could also be ensured.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah, Arabic Academy of the Dawoodi Bohra Community in Mumbai.

Jamea is considered to be the principal educational institute of the Dawoodi Bohars and looks to impart religious as well as other branches of knowledge.

The Uttar Pradesh government has launched the portal for the creation of "Family ID – One Family One Identity", to identify families as a unit for implementing the "one job per family" proposal.

According to a state government, all such families that are not eligible for the National Food Security Scheme will be able to avail of the ID.

While the ration card ID of the families having it, will be considered as their family ID.

Key Points -

A unique identity will be issued to each family under the One Family One Identity scheme, thereby establishing a live comprehensive database of family units of the state.

At present, about 3.59 crore families and 14.92 crore people living in Uttar Pradesh are getting the benefit of the National Food Security Scheme.

The ration card number of these families will serve as "family ID". Families not covered by the National Food Security Scheme, who are not eligible for ration cards, will be provided with the Family ID through the Family ID portal.

This portal was developed to provide a 12-digit unique family ID to those families which were not ration card holders.

Peter Burwash International (PBI), one of the top tennis instruction programmes, has partnered with the Ileseum Club in Bavdhan, Pune, to open a second training facility there.

In Jammu and Kashmir, 5.9 million tonnes of lithium reserves have been discovered for the first time in India, according to the Mines Ministry’s announcement on February, 9.

According to the Ministry of Mines, the Geological Survey of India has for the first time discovered 5.9 million tonnes of lithium inferred resources (G3) in the Salal-Haimana area of the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

It further stated that state governments received 51 mineral parcels, including lithium and gold.

Non-ferrous metal lithium is one of the essential elements of EV batteries.

About Lithium -

Lithium is an element and in nature tends to concentrate sufficiently in the two minerals, spodumene and lepidolite.

They are usually found in specialised rocks called rareCand greisens.

The Geological Agency described lithium as high grade because it is found with 1-13% oxide content. Normally exploration begins at levels as low as 0.4%.

Grade (in %) is a measure of the concentration of lithium in the minerals and or rocks that contain it.

Therefore, the higher the grade the more the economic viability. Higher grades are very rare for metals like lithium.

The United Nations General Assembly has designated February 11 as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science to recognise the significant contribution that women make to the fields of science and technology.

The exercise named TARKASH by the National Security Guard (NSG) and US Special Operations Forces (SOF) is currently underway in Chennai.

With chemical and biological warfare being recognised as a coming threat to the world, an ongoing Indo-US joint exercise has for the first time included a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) terror response in its drill.

The objective of the joint exercise was to rapidly neutralise the terrorists, rescue the hostages safely and deactivate the chemical weapons being carried by the terrorists

CBRN weapons, which are also classified as Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs), have been used by States and terror elements in the past. The most recent use of CBRN in the form of a sarin gas attack was witnessed in Syria in 2017.

According to the UN, the prospect of non-state actors, including terrorists and their supporters, gaining access to and using WMDs or CBRNs is a serious threat to international peace and security.
