Mumbai’s jumped to rank 37 from 92 in a global list of movement in prices of luxury homes as the city saw a gain of 6.4 percent during the 2022 calendar year.

Property consultant Knight Frank virtually released "The Wealth Report 2023" in which Mumbai has ranked 37th.

Knight Frank Report states that the value of the Prime International Residential Index, which tracks the movement in luxury house prices across the world increased by 5.2 percent YoY (year-on-year) in 2022.

Prime properties in Mumbai are expected to witness an appreciation of 3 percent in 2023.

In Bengaluru, prime property prices rose 3 percent, helping the city improve its rank to 63rd in 2022 from 91st in 2021.

Delhi’s prime property market saw an appreciation by 1.2 percent which moved up the ranking to 77th from 93rd in 2021.

Monaco continues its reign as the world’s most expensive city where USD 1 million can get you 17 square meters of space, followed by Hong Kong (21 square meters) and New York (33 square meters) in 2022.

Mumbai ranked second amongst APAC markets, after Tokyo, with a 6.4 percent YoY rise in values even as other regional markets saw declining values.

India and Australia signed a Framework Mechanism for Mutual Recognition of Qualifications that will help ease the mobility of students and professionals between the two countries.

While the two countries will recognise the degrees, professional registrations of engineering, medicine and law pass-outs will remain outside the framework’s ambit.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) participated in Exercise Shinyuu Maitri with the Japan Air Self-Defence Force (JASDF).

The Exercise Shinyuu Maitri is being organized on the sidelines of the Indo-Japan Joint Army Exercise, Dharma Guardian, which was conducted from 13 February 2023 to 02 March 2023 at Komatsu, Japan.

The Indian Air Force is participating in Exercise Shinyuu Maitri 23 with one C-17 Globemaster III aircraft.

The Exercise has been conducted on the 1st and 2nd of March 2023.

The exercise provided an opportunity for the respective subject matter experts to interact and study each other’s operational philosophies and best practices.

President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the 7th International Dharma Dhamma Conference 2023 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Over 15 countries will participate in the three-day conference.

The 7th edition of the conference has a theme of "Eastern Humanism for the New Era" and has been planned in collaboration with Sanchi University of Buddhist-Indic Studies.

Tata Steel Mining Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding with GAIL (India) Limited for supply of natural gas to its ferro alloys plant at Athgarh in Odisha’s Cuttack district.

According to the MoU, GAIL will supply the agreed quantity of natural gas through its pipeline from Gujarat to Athgarh.

The project will lower green house gas emission by 968 tons.

Furnace oil emits more carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides and sulphur oxides than natural gas does.

Natural gas emits 27% less carbon dioxide and has lower levels of other pollutants.

Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry has received the Porter Prize 2023.

It recognized the government’s strategy in managing COVID-19, also the approach, and involvement of various stakeholders especially involvement of ASHA workers in the industry to create PPE Kits.

The prize was announced during The India Dialog at Stanford University.

The country’s contribution in developing and manufacturing vaccines was also lauded.

The theme of the two-day conference was The Indian Economy 2023: "Innovation, Competitiveness and Social Progress".

About the Porter Prize -

Porter Prize is named after US citizen Michael E Porter, an economist, researcher, author, advisor, speaker and teacher.

He has brought economic theory and strategy concepts to bear on many of the most challenging problems faced by corporations, economies and societies, including market competition and company strategy, economic development, the environment and healthcare.

He is also the most cited scholar today in economics and business.

Former Chief Justice of India AM Ahmadi has passed away at the age of 90. Ahmadi was the chief justice from 1994 to 1997.

His judicial career as a City Civil and Session Court judge in Ahmedabad, he was the only Chief Justice of India who started at the very lowest rank to rise to the highest position of the Indian judiciary.

Justice Ahmadi was a felicitated jurist not only in India but across the world.

He was invited by various international organisations, including UNO and World Bank to lead special projects.

He was the recipient of honors from highly reputable legal institutions such as American Inn of Laws and Middle Temple Inn of Honorable Society of Middle Temple, London.

He was the author of numerous path breaking judgements.

Apart from being one of the longest serving Chief Justices of India, he also shouldered the responsibility of heading various Commissions and was contributing actively in the field of Arbitrations till the end of his life.

Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Kumar Mallik has informed the state Assembly that Gold deposits have been found at different locations in three districts of Odisha, including Deogarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.

The Minister informed that the State Directorate of Mines and geology and the Geological Survey of India conducted a preliminary survey and found the presence of gold deposits in the Adas area of Deogarh, Gopur, Gazipur, Kusakala, Adal, Saleikana, Dimirimunda and Karadanga area of Keonjhar.

The Minister also informed that the survey conducted by GSI has concluded that 1685kg of gold is present in the copper ore at the G2 Level in the Adas area.

The World Gold Council was formed in 1987 by some of the world’s most forward-thinking mining companies.

The "Catch the Rain 2023" campaign has introduced by President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi.

The campaign’s central idea is the sustainability of drinking water sources.

Since India only has 4% of the world’s water resources, water management and conservation are India’s most pressing challenges.

The President awarded the "Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman 2023" under several categories of the Swachh Bharat Mission, including Grameen, Jal Jeevan Mission and National Water Mission, in recognition of the responsibilities played by women in water conservation and sanitation.

National Safety Day is observed on March 4 annually with an in aim to promote safe working environment and ensure safety of people in all aspects.

National Safety Day 2023 is marked to raise awareness about safety measures and protocols so that any kind of untoward incident can be averted.

The campaign is comprehensive, general and flexible with an appeal to the participating organisations to develop specific activities as per their safety requirements.

This year will mark the onset of the 52nd National Safety Day.

History -

In 1965, the Ministry of Labour and Employment of the Government of India organized the first Conference on Industrial Safety.

It was held from December 11 to December 13 in cooperation with employers’ organisations, state governments, and other trade unions and institutions.

In the conference, the various bodies realized the need for setting up National and State Safety Councils.

The proposal for a National Safety Council (NSC) was accepted by the 24th session of the Standing Labour Committee in February 1966.

On March 4 that year, the Ministry of Labour constituted the NSC, which was first registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and then as a public trust under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950.

The National Safety Day was first marked in 1971 to commemorate the founding of the National Safety Council and raise safety awareness.
